Description

Example of laboratory test stand for R&D testing on automotive gearboxes. Its purpose is to conduct a series of tests while the gearbox is running and subject to various tilting combinations.

In particular, the test rig performs lubrication tests and performance tests.

The test equipment consists of an oscillating table around two pitch and roll axis, with the possibility of obtaining a combination of the two motions.

The tilting movements are performed thanks to a system of reducers and electric motors.

The control architecture of the test bench is constituted by a National Instruments Compact RIO, communicating with the test bench via CAN and/or EtherCAT protocols, and with the Transmission Control Unit (TCU), by CAN, CAN FD and LIN protocols. Furthermore, the Compact RIO also communicates with an external CAN device of the customer, that can also directly control the TCU and the test bench itself.
