Iron Birds

Iron Bird refers to the set of equipment used to ground test the integration between the systems of a commercial or military aircraft in the prototyping and qualification phases.

All the aircraft systems are installed in the Iron Bird with the same layout in which they will be installed in the final aircraft in order to test all their functions both individually and together with the other systems. A cockpit is also often included so pilots can test the system by simulating flight profiles.

Test Industry has experience in supplying Iron Bird test benches for major aircraft manufacturers. These systems include for example:

  • Aircraft HPS (Hydraulic Power System) simulation
  • Flight Control System (FCS) downforce simulation
  • Chassis rigidity simulation
